UPDATE 19:45: David Sidwick (Conservative) is Police and Crime Commissioner-elect. He will move into office from Thursday next week.

UPDATE 18:41: Second preference results for BCP Council are in:

Dan Hardy (Independent) 5965

David Sidwick (Conservative) 2903

We are now awaiting second preference results for Dorset.

UPDATE 17:01: First preference results for Dorset announced as follows:

David Sidwick (Conservative) 64,071

Claire Seymour (Green) 21,283

Canavan (Labour) 16,379

Dan Hardy (Independent) 31,112

Mark Robson (Lib Dem) 17,836

There is no clear winner currently so vote counters are starting on the second preference count

UPDATE 16:03: Wyke Regis’ seat went to Labour candidate Becky Blake, while Preston’s seat went to Conservative Peter Dickinson.

Becky Blake, Labour, Wyke Regis - 626 votes out of 1,501 cast

Peter Dickenson, Conservative, Preston - 1,004 votes out of 2,257 cast

Local neighbourhood plan referendums are also underway.

Residents voted in favour of the Portland, Chickerell and Shaftesbury plans.

UPDATE 14:48: PCC elections turnout is 25%. Expecting the first round of results in the next 15 minutes or so. If any candidate has 51% of the vote by then a winner will be declared.

UPDATE 13:17: The first batch of results are being counted and are expected in the next hour or so. If any candidate comes out clearly with a 51% lead then the race will be called, otherwise the next batch of votes will be counted.

Counting is underway at the Dorset PCC elections at Bournemouth International Centre.

A result is expected here in the next couple of hours.

The Police and Crime Commissioner is responsible for the entire Dorset Police force, covering Dorset and Bournemouth Christchurch and Poole Council areas.

Votes are being collected and counted from across that area. Dorset votes are being counted in Weymouth, with BCP Council votes counted at the Bournemouth International Centre.

The final announcement will be made at the BIC and is expected in the next few hours.
