Dorset Mind quits X social media platform
The charity say it's 'no longer the place to reach people who need us most'
Dorset mental health charity Mind has quit social media platform X - due to what it's calling 'misinformation, toxicity and harmful content'.
They're keeping their accounts open on other socials, and say they've 'thought long and hard' about leaving X.
But Dorset Mind claim 'it's no longer the right platform to reach the people who need them most'.
In a post on their Facebook page, they've said:
"We've been thinking long and hard about our future on X. We've had some good times over the years, calling out stigma, raising awareness, supporting people and calling for the Government to do better for mental health.
"However, X is no longer the right platform for us to reach the people who need us most. The rise in misinformation, toxicity and harmful content makes it harder to foster the safe, supportive and constructive discussions that are at the heart of what we do.
"Many charities have already made the difficult decision to step away, and after careful consideration, we are doing the same."
