Dorset will take part in a national day of reflection across the UK for the Covid-19 pandemic.

A gathering will be held at Memorial Corner at County Hall in Dorchester on Sunday (9th of March), followed by a minutes silence at midday.

The memorial has been renovated to include 11 new panels in memory of front lie workers who lost their lives during the pandemic in 2022.

People attending the event are encouraged to lay flowers at the panels and to stay and reflect if they wish.

Cllr Stella Jones MBE, Chair of Dorset Council said: “The day will mark five years since the start of the pandemic that affected us all deeply.

“The service will provide an opportunity to come together, remember those that are no longer with us, and to honour the hard work of key workers and those who volunteered their time and showed acts of kindness during unprecedented times.”
