More than 14,000 households on Dorset still haven't received their energy rebate from the Government.

Dorset Council is giving out the £150 payments to eligible residents with homes in the Council Tax bands A to D.

Latest figures show 85% of Dorset households have received their payments - which works out as nearly 102,000 families.

Most of those who have received the payment did so because they pay their council tax by direct debit, making it easier for Dorset Council to administer the payments to them.

There's now a push from Dorset Council to get the payments to the remaining 15% of households, which the deadline for claims fast approaching.

The authority's asking eligible households who haven't had the rebate to get in touch with them by next Sunday (August 7th).

Council leader Spencer Flower says that staff are working hard to reach everyone and he is hoping those still eligible for the money will soon be paid in what he describes as “these difficult times.”

Anyone eligible who doesn't claim by the deadline won't miss out completely, but they won't have the option to have it paid into their nominated bank account.

Instead, these households will receive the £150 as a credit on their council tax accounts.
