People are being warned not to light BBQs, and take care in the sea, during hot weather in Dorset.

Temperatures could reach over 30 degrees Celsius on Monday, with the Met Office forecasting a period of "strong summer sunshine."

The UK Health Security Agency have issued a yellow heat health alert, which is in force until 9am on Tuesday.

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire Service are urging people to be responsible during the warm weather.

Speaking to Greatest Hits Radio, Station Manager Sean Milton urged people not to light BBQs, especially disposable ones.

"Some people have small fires in the open, which can lead to it being out of control."

"Our best advice is to bring a picnic, not a BBQ."

Mr Milton said swimmers should also stay within the flags put out by lifeguards, and only swim to the depth they feel comfortable.

He also urged anyone in trouble to seek emergency help immediately by calling 999.

"The advice that you'll get through 999 will be invaluable, and will guide you through what you need to do next."
