Nearly 96% of Dorset families have been offered a place at their first preference of primary school for this September.

Dorset Council say they received 4,302 applications this year, with 95.58% being offered their top choice of school.

Here's the breakdown for each type of school in the Dorset Council area:

  • 94.68% have been offered their first preference of reception school
  • 98.09% have been offered their first preference of junior school
  • 97.40% have been offered their first preference of middle school

Parents and carers were able to log in to their online Dorset Council account to see the outcome of their application, as well as having the details emailed out to them.

Anyone who didn't send in their application online will have a letter sent in the post this week.

All families now have until Tuesday 3rd May 2022, to confirm they wish to accept or decline a place.

If families don't get the place they want, they have the right to an independent appeal, by contacting the Dorset Council School Admissions Team on 01305 221060, or by visiting the authority's website.
