Weymouth man jailed for drugs possession

A man has been jailed for 28 months after being caught in possession of drugs in Weymouth.

44 year old Adam James Leslie of Weymouth, pleaded guilty to two counts of possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of class A at a hearing at Poole Magistrates’ Court.

He was found on last month by a neighbourhood policing officer was on patrol near to Greenhill Gardens when he spotted the defendant acting suspiciously in suspected drug-related activity.

Detective Constable Matt Barrett, of Dorset County CID, said: “Due to the quick-thinking action of the neighbourhood policing officer, and his bravery in stopping the defendant in his tracks from fleeing the scene, we were able to take class A drugs off the streets.

“Our subsequent detailed enquiries led to Leslie being charged and brought before the court, where he faced justice for his actions.

“We know the impact that drug-related activity has on communities and we remain absolutely committed to doing all we can to prevent it.
