Dorset disability charity recycling Christmas trees for donations
If you're taking decorations down, spare a thought for Diverse Abilities
A Dorset disability charity is asking us to consider them when we're taking down any Christmas decorations in the coming days.
Diverse Abilities is taking part in a festive tree recycling schemes, where real ones are taken away and chipped up, in return for a donation to them.
We can register to take part online, with the trees being collected by volunteers between Thursday 9th and Sunday 12th January.
It's a £10 donation per tree, with the service running across East Dorset, the BCP area and over the border into Hampshire, covering Ringwood and Fordingbridge.
Francesca Potton, community fundraiser at Diverse Abilities. said:
“We’re thrilled to be celebrating ten years of Treecycling. We were the first charity in the area to introduce this scheme, and it’s become one of our most important fundraisers of the year and allows us to raise vital money and truly makes a huge difference in our efforts to continue supporting more than 1,600 children and adults with physical and learning disabilities across the county.”
Lisa Delahunty, managing director at Waste Management Facilities Limited, said:
“We’re thrilled to continue working with Diverse Abilities on this exciting project. We will be helping throughout the period with the logistics and providing a volunteer team, to collect Christmas trees after the festive period and raise money for the children and adults supported by the charity.”
