It's to help meet current demand

Dorset County Hospital is to add a temporary dialysis unit.

The hospital says the portable building will allow for an expansion of the service to meet current demand and in the short-term could be used as an isolation unit for any dialysis patients who are COVID-19 positive, if needed.

The building will be to the south of the hospital site close to the existing dialysis unit and could be on site for up to five years.

Drawings submitted with the application suggest the unit would be able to treat up to eight patients at a time.
