Dorset County Hospital Charity pays tribute to Captain Sir Tom Moore
His fundraising will directly help support staff at our hospital

Dorset County Hospital Charity has paid tribute to Captain Sir Tom Moore, calling him a kind, courageous and generous man.
Out hospital's benefitted from more than £150,000 in funds raised by Sir Tom and others for the NHS Charities Together Covid Appeal.
Last night, people were asked to clap for the 100 year-old, who died in hospital with Covid-19.
Simon Pearson, Head of Charity at Dorset County Hospital said,
"Captain Sir Tom Moore's actions inspired us all and lifted the spirits of the nation at this very challenging time. We would like to pay tribute to him and all he did to support the work of our hospital and hundreds of other NHS hospitals across the country.
"Sir Tom's fundraising efforts were a huge inspiration showing what could be done with positivity, dedication and selflessness. He provided a beacon of hope and inspired fundraisers across our community to support Dorset County Hospital through donations and their own amazing challenges to raise funds. Sometimes it's the little things that make the most difference - knowing people are thinking of you and appreciate what you do. Our thoughts are with Captain Sir Tom Moore's family and friends at this difficult time - I don't expect we will ever see his like again."
Celebrating with his family post fundraiser
In April, Captain Tom celebrated with his family after completing 100 laps of his garden in aid of the NHS' charitable wing, NHS Charities Together, raising £33 million.

A mural was painted in Belfast to commemorate his 100th Birthday. He also received more than 150,000 Birthday cards from all over the world.

Captain Sir Tom was also made an Honorary Colonel of the Northern military training establishment in tribute to his fundraising efforts.
He even had a No.1 in the charts
Captain Tom also reached No.1 in the charts with his rendition of You'll Never Walk Alone with Michael Ball and The NHS Voices Of Care Choir.
Captain Tom releases autobiography
Captain Tom released his own book 'Tomorrow Will Be A Good Day: My Autobiography', and was Sunday Times No1 Bestseller. It captures the story of his long and dramatic life, including his time in World War II and his love for motorbikes.
A Charity challenge was launched in honour of Captain Sir Tom Moore
The family of Captain Sir Tom Moore encouraged people to take on their own "Captain Tom 100" charity challenge on what would have been the weekend of his 101st birthday.

Captain Sir Tom Moore's daughter is hopes to start an annual fundraising event, in the style of Children In Need, to empower older people.
How Sir Tom helped Dorset County Hospital
Dorset County Hospital has benefitted by more than £150,000 from funds raised by Sir Tom and others for the NHS Charities Together Covid Appeal.
They have been used to support staff well-being at Dorset County Hospital by funding initiatives such as mental health support including counselling and creating safe spaces where DCH staff can take a short break away from the stresses of their work.
These valued funds will also support longer term projects to assist the resilience and recovery of our NHS staff.

"Sir Tom's qualities of modesty and kindness have been echoed many times by local fundraisers who walked, ran, cooked, sewed, sang and swam to raise money for Dorset County Hospital during the pandemic. His actions have inspired a generation of people to take positive action for good and his legacy will be felt for a very long time."
In addition to Sir Tom's extraordinary fundraising, Dorset County Hospital Charity's Covid Appeal has raised over £130,000 locally.
