A Dorset councillor has been accused on social media of being involved in a "rioting" incident in Corfe Mullen.
Police are investigating the incident which reportedly saw dozens of young people acting in an anti-social manner outside the Co-op store on Wareham Road.
Staff reportedly locked themselves inside as the shop was damaged and a window was smashed.
Councillor Duncan Sowry-House confirmed that he was present at the time, but has not commented on the social media allegations that he was directly involved.
A Dorset Council spokesperson said: “We are aware of an incident that occurred in Corfe Mullen, which we understand has since become the subject of a police investigation.
“Cllr Sowry-House entirely refutes this version of events, and Dorset Council supports him in this.
“Cllr Sowry-House will continue as usual with his Dorset Council business, allowing the police investigation to follow its course.”
