Porltand Beach road could be closing today because of the risk of flooding.

Tidal swells are anticipated between 7pm and 10pm today.

A Dorset Council spokesperson said:

"It is looking likely that Dorset Council will need to close Portland Beach Road this evening between 7pm and 10pm because of warnings from the Environment Agency of expected tidal swells which may cause flooding.

"We're asking people to make alternative arrangements for travel to and from the island this evening and avoid the area if they can between these times.

We are keeping this under constant review and it is subject to the changing weather conditions."
