Dorset's campsites say bookings are coming in thick and fast ahead of the staycation boom.

Woodfrys Farm near Shaftesbury were due to fully open their campsite last year, but were limited because of the pandemic.

They've put in the infrastructure for eco-camping and caravanning in preparation for May's easing of lockdown.

Hannah Jefferson, owner of the site told Greatest Hits Radio Dorset:

"We were always anticipating opening as a campsite in 2020 and obviously that was curtailed by what happened with COVID, but we did manage to open in July and we did a short season."

They weren't the only ones. preparing for summer. A rush of planning applications have been made to Dorset Council for more camping space.

Now Woodfrys Farm is close to being fully booked during the summer when children are off school.

Hannah added:

"So this year we've put in new compost toilets and new shower facilities.

"For lots of people, it's their first big chance to get away since the whole pandemic began. A lot of them are escaping from more urban places, and the fact that the weather was amazing, we're getting really positive feedback."
