Dorset business leaders put workplace wellbeing on the agenda
Over 50 business leaders across Dorset are attending a summit today
Dorset business leaders are putting workplace wellbeing on the agenda during Mental Health Awareness Week.
Over 50 business leaders from across the county are attending a summit in Bournemouth today (Tuesday 10th May) to discuss how local organisations can improve wellbeing and mental health in the workplace.
Attendees will be invited to explore the need for Dorset organisations to commit to a minimum standard of workplace wellbeing.
Speakers on the day will include best-selling author and wellbeing coach Katherine Baldwin, award-winning brand strategist Gellan Watt, Dorset Mind’s Marie-Clare Gale and Bournemouth entrepreneur and business leader Ty Temel.
Andrew Coleman is the founder of Light On, the Dorset wellbeing campaign behind the business summit, and co-founder of Modern Listings EA. Andrew explains:
“This event is an opportunity to shine a lens on the way we support our employees, and discuss the simple steps every business, however small, can take to develop mentally healthy workplaces.”
Workplaces play an integral role in improving wellbeing, and recent research has underlined just how important employee wellbeing is to a successful business.
According to a new report compiled by the Mental Health Foundation and London School of Economics, mental ill health costs the economy £118 billion every year, with almost three-quarters (72%) relating to lost productivity from staff living with mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety and stress.
The event's being held at the Hotel Collingwood in Bournemouth today between 1.00pm and 5.00pm.
