Dorchester Christmas Tree seller offers viewings over Zoom
They're determined to help all local families enjoy a real tree despite the coronavirus restrictions.
We may be getting used to doing meetings on Zoom during lockdown, but have you ever thought about buying your Christmas Tree that way?
Well, a Christmas Tree supplier in Dorchester is giving you the chance to do just that.
Trinity Street Christmas Trees are offering Zoom calls so people can buy their tree from the comfort of their sofa.
They're determined to help all local families enjoy a real tree for the festive celebrations, despite the coronavirus restrictions.
For the first time in its 30 year history, Trinity Street Christmas Trees is to deliver trees throughout Dorset.
The family business has created a new online shop www.tschristmastrees.co.uk, and they have been working hard on their Dorset plantation, getting the home-grown trees ready for their first orders.
Owner Pete Hyde said:
"We are open as usual this year to sell our Dorset grown Christmas trees, but we have put in place a contingency plan to ensure all our customers will be able to enjoy a fresh Christmas tree as part of their festive celebrations.
"We take our environmental responsibility seriously and feel privileged to bring our family up in this beautiful part of the country. Growing our own trees was a natural progression and reducing delivery road miles and providing employment seemed a good thing to do."
"People worry about the environmental impact of having a cut tree but in fact, the growing process is positive, one acre of our plantation provides the daily oxygen needs for 18 people, whilst a single farmed tree absorbs more than 1 ton of CO2 throughout its lifetime (source National Christmas Tree Association)"
In addition, the company use sustainable practises at the plantation and will continue to use the biodegradable tree wrap they introduced last year.
They will also be encouraging customers to plant their own tree by giving the first 1000 customers a present of a Norway Spruce sapling to plant at home, when they purchase a tree from one of Trinity Street Christmas Tree's centres in Dorchester, Weymouth or Bridport. This free tiny sapling could reach six foot in 10 years' time, providing a tree for generations to come whilst contributing positively to the planet.
Helping Weldmar Hospice
However, environmental responsibility does not stop with the decision to purchase a real tree. Recycling a fresh tree for compost at the end of the festivities is the best way to ensure the environmental benefits continue and Trinity Christmas Trees are making this easy for customers by partnering with the Weldmar Hospicecare charity and their popular Tree-cycle scheme.
Pete said:
"This year we have partnered with the charity Weldmar Hospicecare who are providing a recycling service for Christmas trees in January. In return for a donation to this valuable charity, they will collect and dispose of your tree with environmental responsibility".
