Carol singers in Wyke Regis won't be silenced by Covid-19
They're taking part in Carols on Your Doorstep
Carol singers in Weymouth aren't letting COVID-19 stop them from spreading Christmas cheer.
All Saints Church are asking people to join in with 'Carols on Your Doorstep' on Monday.
Due to the Covid restrictions many Christmas events are not happening this year such as church carol services and Carols Around the Christmas Tree in Wyke Square.
Gary Hepburn is a warden at All Saints Church.
He said:
"We thought this Christmas time it would be nice if everybody could join together from their own home singing carols so many carol events in churches and within the community have been cancelled.
"We thought it'd be nice if everybody could get together, so we came up with this concept of everybody going out onto their doorstep at a set date and time and have to provide in the music live in terms of a choir and band and having a website that they could print off posters and a carol sheet from and everybody join in safely from their own home.
"We just thought what a wonderful thing we could do in Wyke Regis and it's just really spread. We know communities from elsewhere have caught on with it and are going to join with us which is absolutely fine I mean literally anybody could join in from anywhere in the world with us, it's that simple."
They've already had one person in Canada tell them they'll be joining in, including a group of people in Scotland.
The service starts at 7pm on 21st December.
How to take part:
Go to the following website
1) Print off a poster from the website and put it up in your window or ask a local shop to display it.
2) Print off an invite from the website and put it in your neighbours door or send to friends or relatives
3) Print off a carol sheet from the website ready to join in
4) Just before 7pm on 21st December go back to the website and from your PC, laptop, pad device or smart phone click on the livestream link
5) Put on your Christmas Jumper or Hat if you want to open your front door and stand on your doorstep, ready to sing.
The livestream link will connect you to a small socially distances choir and band that will broadcast live from All Saints Church, Wyke Regis.
