Weymouth RNLI are warning us that no photo is worth risk your life.

The advice comes as strong winds are set to create large waves off the Dorset coast over the next couple of days.

A yellow weather warning has been issued by the Met Office until 9pm tomorrow night.

A spokesman for Weymouth RNLI said:

"It only takes 15cm of water to knock you off your feet! Please keep back from cliff edges, piers, harbour walls and other exposed areas if it's choppy.

"If the sea is rough, don't go in. If the conditions change whilst in the water, get out and wait until it's calm and safe."

Advice on how to stay safe

Always prepare for the changeable weather.

Take a fully charged phone when you are out and about so that you can call for help if you need it.

Let someone know where you are going and wear the most appropriate clothing.

Stick to a lifeguarded beach and listen to their advice, they are expertly trained professionals and know the seas like the back of their hands.

Visit the RNLI for an up to date list of current lifeguarded beaches.

If you are going to the beach always make sure you are aware of the tides.

If you see someone at risk or you need help at the coast or near the sea, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
