A dog's 'aggressively lunged' at a horse on a Poole bridleway, with police asking any witnesses to come forward.

A woman was riding her horse at Delph Woods in Broadstone at around midday on Sunday 4th December.

They were approached by a woman with a dog, which is described as a black or brindle coloured Staffy and Whippet cross with a muzzle.

The dog attacked the horse, jumping up to its chest, and continued until the horse kicked it away.

The dog’s owner - a woman in her 50s, who's around 5 feet 5 inches tall, with grey or red curly hair - then came and dragged it away.

PCSO, Pete Raymond, said:

“This incident could have caused serious injuries to the rider if the horse had bolted, and we are carrying our enquiries to identify the dog and owner involved.

“I would urge anyone with information to please contact us and would also urge the owner to do the right thing and come forward so we can take your account of what happened.”

If you can help with any information, you're asked to contact Dorset Police on 101, quoting reference number 55220198791.
