Cyclist struck by car which failed to stop in Purbeck

Dorset Police is now investigating what happened, close to the chain ferry

A cyclist has been struck by a car on a road in Purbeck, with the driver failing to stop at the scene.

It's believed a white or cream coloured Mini, towing a boat or small caravan was involved, at around 12.15pm on Tuesday 12th June, on Ferry Road, Studland.

The victim, in his 30s, is thought to have been hit by the item being towed, causing him to fall off his bike.

He didn't suffer serious injuries.

The Mini didn't stop to check the rider was OK, and Dorset Police are now investigating.

PC Rob Cook, of Dorset Police, said:

“We are continuing to make enquiries into this incident and are keen to identify the driver of the Mini involved so we can take their account.

“I would also like to speak to any witnesses or motorists who may have captured anything of relevance on dashcam footage.”
