Dorset and Wiltshire's firefighters were given enough takeaway food to feed around 50 of them in the year after the pandemic.

Today marks the second anniversary of the first COVID-19 lockdown in 2020.

Frontline workers were inundated with gifts in the months following to show appreciation for putting themselves at risk to keep others safe.

Aside from clapping outside for carers every Thursday evening, over £130,000 pounds was raised for the Dorset County Hospital Charity.

Firefighters were no exception, too.

In its 2020 gifts and hospitality register, Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue logged the following gifts:

Cakes

Currry and Rice to serve the whole watch

Another 13 curries

19 pizzas

10 takeaway boxes of Indian food

140 boxes of chocolate

1,500 soft drinks and 400 packets of crisps

Mixture of sports endurance bars and powders

Boxes of sweets and soap

A number of those were given in response to Wareham Fire Station's role in the Wareham forest fire that year.

Firefighters also risked their own health offering to drive ambulances across Dorset during the first months of the pandemic due to a shortage of staff.
