The number of new coronavirus cases in the Dorset Council area have fallen for the second week in a row.

In the first week of November there were 365 new confirmed cases in the Dorset Council area, 35 (8%) fewer cases than the week before.

Cases had been rising consistently since September.

However the pattern is not the same for Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole where cases are continuing to rise.

In the first week of November there were 848 new cases - up from 816 the week before.

Hospitalisations

The number of patients with COVID-19 in hospital beds in Dorset has been rising over the past few weeks.

As of 11 November 2020, there were 126 COVID-19 patients in hospital beds in Dorset.

This is in comparison to 113 patients on 4 November 2020.

You can find more on hospital admissions by trust level on the NHS England website. This is updated on a weekly basis.

Care homes

Dorset Council says we are continuing to see positive cases in a number of care homes identified through routine whole care home testing.

These are monitored closely working with partners in adult social care, NHS Dorset CCG and the care homes themselves to ensure all necessary measures are being taken.

Where care homes have positive cases in residents or staff, they are advised to only allow visits in exceptional circumstances.
