Residents on Portland will finally be able to go to a COVID clinic on the Island.

Walk-in jabs are being made available for vulnerable people and over 50’s, for the next two Sundays, 4th and 11th December.,

The clinic's opening at Portland Community Hospital, after months of campaigning.

Chair of the Portland Carers Group, Jo Dolbear told us:

"I am so thrilled. I can't tell you what it means to people."

"I have had so many people in tears over this as they moved it out into the sticks in Weymouth."

"We are quite isolated on Portland, there is a lot of elderly and vulnerable and they've just not been able to get to have their Covid jab."

"The nearest one which was in Weymouth, you can't get to on the bus, then they are told Bridport, Wareham, other ridiculous places you can't get to."

The clinics are walk-In only and not bookable online.

They are for 50yrs+ and the vulnerable (underlying health conditions) patients only. They will also not vaccinate any children.

The times are:

• Sunday 4th December 2022 from 09:00 -14:00

• Sunday 11th December 2022 from 09:00 – 14:00
