You can get a coronavirus test over Christmas in Dorset
There's a reminder we can and should get tested
Last updated 22nd Dec 2020
It is business as usual for NHS Test and Trace over the festive period- including on Christmas day itself.
If you develop symptoms testing sites in Dorset will be open.
Opening hours will be slightly different though and you still need to book an appointment online.
You can only get a free NHS test if at least one of the following applies:
- You have a high temperature
- You have a new, continuous cough
- You’ve lost your sense of smell or taste or it’s changed
- You’ve been asked to get a test by a local council
- You’re taking part in a government pilot project
- You’ve been asked to get a test to confirm a positive result
The Government says NHS Test and Trace contact tracers will also continue to work throughout the festive period with amended opening hours, to ensure there are no delays in contacting close contacts of positive cases.
Rachel Partridge, Assistant Director of Public Health for Dorset and Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole said:
“Even though it is Christmas time and we all want to relax and enjoy, unfortunately we do still need to remain alert to the threat of COVID-19 and be vigilant to protect ourselves and our loved ones.
“For example, if you do develop COVID-19 symptoms, you must book a test and self-isolate with anyone in your household or support bubble whilst waiting for the result. Our testing sites will be working and available over the festive season. Obviously this would not be great timing and may interrupt your Christmas plans which is upsetting, but everyone needs to do their bit to help to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in Dorset.”
