Day four of the COP26 Climate Summit being held in Glasgow and Weymouth's Extinction Rebellion group don't think the summit will be a turning point for Climate Change.

It is ahead of the global day of action on Saturday calling for Climate justice.

Leaders attending the conference have agreed to end deforestation and land degradation by 2030.

Over 100 countries have signed the deal, covering 85% of the world's forests. The agreement also has been backed with £8.75 billion of public funding, with an added £5.3 billion in private investments.

The pledge is the first major agreement to come out of the conference, where countries are trying to keep a 1.5C rise in global temperatures in reach.

Andy Smith, a Weymouth Extinction Rebellion member says the target is very ambitious which is fantastic but the government's and politicians can do more.

"What they need to be doing is rather than just reducing emissions in the oil and gas sector, they need to divest from the oil and gas sector completely, there is no space or room for oil and gas in this fight against climate crisis, we need to be moving forward to more sustainable forms of energy.

"Sadly I think COP26 is going to be a massive disappointment as all the previous COP talks have failed to meet their targets.

"The trouble is that politicians have a short tenure and it's very difficult for them to think long term, all they are thinking about is retaining their seats and ensuring they get paid.

"That is half the problem, we need to start thinking about generations ahead of us rather than short term economic growth."

While world leaders gathered, other important players in the world market also attended. Amazon tycoon Jeff Bezos gave a speech to delegates of the duty to protect the planet and the environment. Bezos also announced that he would put $2 billion (equivalent to £1.5 billion) towards the global effort in land restoration.
