Consultation backs plans to repair Chesil Cove seawall
Over 200 people have taken part in a Dorset Coast Forum survey
Nearly two thirds of people taking part in a survey has said they agree with plans to repair and reinforce the seawall at Chesil Cove.
The Dorset Coast Forum has been holding a public consultation, asking local people if they think works should be carried out.
21\8 responses were sent in, with many saying access to the beach and for safe swimming needs to be maintained.
They also raised concerns about possible changes to the landscape and the type of rock that could be used for repairs.
The results of the survey will be passed on to the project team, who are drawing up a business case for Dorset Council, with the aim of securing funding for the work.
That's due to be presented to the authority in the Spring.
Elaine Snow from Dorset Coast Forum, who delivered community engagement and collated the results said:
"This report represents a culmination of the important community engagement for the Chesil Cove Curved Seawall proposals. Members of the community and users of the cove who responded to our survey and attended the events emphasised the importance of the cove as a safe bathing area and family beach. We have analysed all the responses and have put together a report to present the findings.”
