Work on Dorset County Hospital’s is set to be finished by Summer 2022.

The car park will make space for a £62M pound project to expansion the intensive care unit and the emergency department, which is being paid for by government funding.

654 new spaces will be created by the new multistorey, alongside 12 electric vehicle parking points.

Work on the site won’t begin for another two months though as construction of a temporary car park is still underway.

The temporary car park will provide parking for hospital staff only. Construction of the temporary car park is imperative to ensure no detriment to the number of spaces available once the main car park construction begins.

Once the temporary car park is completed, construction of the main multistorey can begin.

The main groundworks will be completed by the end of summer 2021.

Meanwhile, a competition to decide which images will be used on the side of the building has closed.

Locals picked photos of Portland Bill, Durdle Door and Corfe Castle to be displayed on metal panels to cover elevations of the muti-storey car park.
