Do you want to make the roads safer where you live?

Dorset Police are running a Community Speed Watch event at Willowbed Hall in Chickerell this Saturday 5th March for anyone interested in setting up a scheme in their area.

Dorset Police say they will also be available to meet with members of the public who have questions regarding CSW or any other policing issues.

▫️Is speeding an issue in your area?

▫️Do others in your community agree?

▫️Are you and others prepared to get involved?

What is a Community Speed Watch?

Community Speed Watch (CSW) is a partnership initiative that is aimed at raising awareness and encouraging speed reduction.

A spokesperson for Weymouth & Portland Police said:

"Reducing speed will directly contribute to help saving lives and will improve the quality of life for people within the County. It is an opportunity for you to get involved in making the roads safer where you live.

"Speed is a major factor in about a third of all traffic collisions. Each year, in excess of 700 people die, and more than 4,500 are injured nationally, as a result of speeding which is one of the main contributory factors to road collisions.

"CSW is an extra tool which is used in addition to Police Officers and the Dorset Road Safe Camera Enforcement Team to target speeding."

This Saturday's event runs from 1.30pm - 3pm.
