Commercial waste has been found burning near Salway Ash school in Bridport.

Fire crews mobilised to a fire in the open nearby yesterday.

A spokesperson for Bridport Fire Station said:

"The bonfire contained mixed items including commercial waste, some of which should not be burnt on a bonfire. As the smoke from the fire was being carried over the local school and due to undesirable items being burnt, the fire was extinguished."

The incident was left with the police who will be contacting the Environment Agency.
