Hollywood actor Timothée Chalamet has been spotted filming his latest blockbuster ‘Wonka’ along the Dorset coast.

The Oscar nominee was pictured in costume walking along Lyme Regis’s historic harbour wall on Monday morning.

Bake Off presenter Matt Lucas was also seen in Lyme Regis, sporting a body-length brown coat, bowler hat, and moustache.

Filming on ‘Wonka’ began in Dorset on Monday, and is due to wrap up later today (Tuesday 12th October).

‘Wonka’ has been billed as a musical fantasy film serving as a prequel to Roald Dahl’s iconic novel, ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’.

It’ll tell the story of Dahl’s famous candyman and his adventures in the years before he opened his chocolate factory.

Leading man Chalamet was Oscar nominated for his breakthrough role in 'Call Me By Your Name', and has since appeared in Greta Gerwig's 'Little Women' and upcoming fantasy epic 'Dune'.

There are reports Lyme Regis is being used as the setting for the young Wonka’s arrival in England, with historic vessel Lydia Eva used in scenes showing a passenger steamer bringing him to the country.

The film, which also stars Sally Hawkins and Oscar-winner Olivia Colman in undisclosed roles, is being directed by Paul King, perhaps best known for his 2014 hit 'Paddington'.

‘Wonka’ is scheduled for release in early 2023.
