A vulnerable man's lost £250 in a scam incident in Shaftesbury, which police are treating as theft.

A man approached the victim outside Tesco on Christy's Lane at around 5.00pm on Wednesday 3rd July.

He asked to borrow cash for repairs to a car, with the victim going with the man to withdraw money and hand it over to him.

Later, the victim enquired with a garage about the repairs to find no cash was owed, and the man wasn't connected to the business.

A CCTV image has now been released showing a man police want to speak to.

Police Community Support Investigator Lindy Wilson, of Dorset Police, said:

“This incident involved the targeting and deception of a vulnerable individual and we are carrying out enquiries to identify the man involved.

“I am now in a position to issue a CCTV image of a man we would like to identify as part of our investigation and I would urge anyone who recognises him to please contact us.”
