A number of distinctive items have been stolen from a Bournemouth church - with police releasing a CCTV image of a suspect.

It's reported a man went into St Stephen's Church on St Stephen's Way at around 9.30am on Friday 9th June.

He gained entry to a private area of the building with a silver sanctuary lamp, a statue of Our Lady of Walsingham and a palm frond, described as a gold palm leaf, taken.

Officers have also given us images of the stolen items, in the hope we might have seen them dumped or put up for sale.

A statue, lamp and gold palm leaf were taken in the burglary

Police Community Support Investigator Rachael Buller, of Bournemouth police, said:

“I am continuing to investigate this incident and am now in a position to issue a CCTV image of the suspect.

“I am appealing to anyone who recognises him, or has any information about the burglary, to please get in touch.

“Also, I am issuing images of the stolen items as they are very distinctive and I would ask anyone who has seen them for sale to please contact Dorset Police.”

If you can help with any information, you're asked to contact Dorset Police on 101, quoting reference number 55230090398.

Or if you'd rather pass on details anonymously, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
