Police investigating the alleged theft if a purse and the fraudulent use of a bank card in Weymouth have issued a CCTV image of a woman they would like to speak to.

They have just released details of the incident that is reported to have happened between 10.30am and 12.30pm on Thursday (12 May).

A purse – containing a quantity of cash and a bank card – was stolen from an address in Park Street.

The bank card was subsequently allegedly used to carry out two transactions in the town centre, totalling around £90.

A 53-year-old man from Weymouth has been arrested on suspicion of theft and released under investigation while enquiries continue.

Police Constable Samuel Berry, of Dorset Police’s Volume Crime Team, said: “I have now obtained a CCTV image of a woman I would like to identify.

“I am appealing to anyone who recognises her to please contact Dorset Police.”
