Dorset Police are urging us to take precautions

A expensive piece of kit's been stolen from a car parked up on School Hill in Chickerell.

A catalytic converter was taken overnight between Friday (18th February) and Saturday (19th February).

The equipment is popular with thieves, due to its high scrap metal value.

Dorset Police say 'thankfully, reported thefts of this nature are rare in Weymouth'.

But they're encouraging drivers to be vigilant and take steps to prevent themselves becoming a victim, like parking in well-lit areas and in places where it's more difficult for thieves to get underneath.

No arrests have been made into the Chickerell incident at this stage.

If we do have any information though, we're asked to contact Dorset Police on 101, or by emailing 101@dorset.pnn.police.uk, quoting reference number 55220028770.
