A suspected scam involving card payments at Wareham and Ferndown pubs is being investigated by police - with a CCTV image shared.

It's reported a man tried to pay in a Wareham venue on the afternoon of June 28th, using what's believed to be a stolen card.

He tampered with the machine so it overcharged him, and he claimed a refund.

He used a different card to get the money back fraudulently, totalling several hundred pounds.

A similar incident was then reported on the evening of July 11th, at a pub in Ferndown.

It's thought the same man was involved, with several hundred pounds taken again.

Officers have given us a CCTV image of a man they want to trace.

Detective Constable Mike White, of Dorset Police, said:

“We are carrying out enquiries into these incidents and are now in a position to issue an image of a man we would like to identify.

“I would urge anyone who recognises him to please contact us.

“I would also like to take this opportunity to urge bars and pubs to be vigilant when customers are making payments using a card machine.”
