Charity car wash at Weymouth fire station this Sunday
Firefighters and the scouts will be washing cars in return for donations
Firefighters and scouts will be washing cars in return for donations in an event being held in Weymouth on Sunday 12 June in aid of the Fire Fighters Charity and the Brownsea Raptors (Dorset Scouts).
The charity car wash is being organised at the town’s fire station on Radipole Lane between 10am and 3pm.
Watch Manager Luke Howell said:
“The Charity provides everyone within the fire and rescue service with a vital lifeline when things are tough, whether it’s rehabilitation after injury or someone else to turn to during mental health or financial challenges. We know that income has dropped significantly during the pandemic, so we’re keen to raise as much as we can for this great cause.
“A number of local Scouts have been selected and tasked with raising funds to enable Scouts from poorer countries, and themselves, to attend the 25th World Scout Jamboree in South Korea next year. We’re delighted to be supporting the young people in our community and their opportunity to attend an event with people from all over the world, promoting peace and understanding within younger communities.”
60% of the total funds raised from the event will be donated to The Fire Fighters Charity, and 40% will be contributed to the Brownsea Raptors.
