A driver has escaped uninjured after their car hit flood water and ended up on its side near Shaftesbury.

Dorset Police were called to the Manston Road area at 07:55 this morning.

The car aquaplaned and flipped onto its side following heavy rain across the county last night.

Dorset Police are warning people to take extra care while driving during today's conditions.

A spokesperson for North Dorset Police said:

"With the recent rain, it would be prudent to mention the hazards of standing water.

"Slow down, drive to the conditions otherwise you may have an expensive Christmas."
