A group of parked up vans overlooking Portland's Sandsfoot beach have been moved by police, working alongside Dorset Council.

Vehicles, including an old ambulance, have been using the car park at Castle Cove Sailing Club for around two years.

Legal action had been threatened to the owners of the vans, with them finally being moved on yesterday (Thursday 1st September).

The car park's now been secured with concrete barriers to make sure campers don't return.

Castle Cove Sailing Club's commodore David Brock thanked the police and Dorset Council for completing their task in a “calm, professional and efficient manner” with consideration for the welfare of those camping there and the general public.

The vans have been parked up in a 'no camping' zone for up to two years
