Busy August for Dorchester Fire Station
The crews have been sharing stats from the last month
It seems August was a very busy month for Dorchester Fire Station - highlighting the need to boost their on-call crew numbers.
The Poundbury based team was called out to a total of 65 incidents throughout last month.
43% of those shouts were to actual fires, with the others split between things like alarm activations, to support other emergency services, and to provide standby cover for other stations.
The Dorchester team say the incidents show how important it is that they have enough on-call firefighters to help make sure they can attend all the emergencies they're needed for.
On-call crew members need to be able to respond within around eight minutes.
They need to be aged over 18, but can be from any walk of life, and receive full training.
Two thirds of the stations in the Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service are staffed by on-call firefighters.
You can find out more about the role on the DWFRS website.
