Businesses in Brewery Square adapt for second lockdown
They're sharing delivery drivers and offering click and collect.
Think local and shop local, that's the message from Dorchester's Brewery Square.
Businesses face another month of uncertainty during what would ordinarily be a very busy time in the lead up to Christmas.
A number of shops in Brewery Square remained open last night, to accommodate customers through the door before non-essential shops were asked to close.
Non-essential shops include, clothing and homeware stores, and personal care facilities like hairdressers.
Charlotte Spracklen is Brewery Square's Centre Manager.
She said:
"Lots of them are worried especially in the run-up to Christmas and obviously this would be quite a busy time for them, but thankfully a lot of them are quite prepared to adapt.
"We've got quite a lot businesses that help each other out with their deliveries, and also just simple things such as sharing each other's post on social media to spread the word.
"That's been really good for all of them and there's quite a neighborly sense here. So they're all pulling together to get each other by."
Lots of the businesses are offering click and collect services, and those that offer essential services will be staying open.
Charlotte added:
"We hope that most of our stores will reopen at the beginning of December and obviously we don't quite know what will happen, but at the moment we are hoping that things will go back to some sort of normal early next month."
