Dorset Police have issued a warning not to do business with cold callers.

It's after reports of men with an Irish accent offering roof and gutter cleaning services in the Bridport area.

They failed to provide paperwork of their details, with some customers reporting they felt mislead and pressured.

A spokesperson for Bridport Police said:

"They have not provided any paperwork-traders details, 14 days cancellation rights and price. Customers were misled about the aspects of the work being done and some felt pressured into work being done.

"We advise you to not do any business with cold callers. Their aim is to charge you a significantly high price for the work.

"Please do your homework, check your local magazines for local traders, speak to your neighbours, perhaps they've used someone reliable already and will be happy to share their details with you.

"You won't ever make the right buying decision on your doorstep."
