We've all heard how firefighters might spend a lot of their time rescuing cats from up trees - but what about rescuing them from their own equipment?

That's exactly what's happened to the crew in Bridport this week (Monday 30th October).

They found Millie, a black cat, trapped in their water carrier and were struggling to catch her.

An appeal was put out on their social media to try and find Millie's owners, while firefighters took her for a check-up at a 24 hour vets in Axminster.

A scan of her microchip located her home, and she found to be fine, except for a bit of dehydration.

Millie was put into a carry box and taken to the vets for a check up

Bridport firefighters took her back to her family, who said she'd actually been missing for a week!

In a Facebook post, the crew said:

"Everyone loves a purrrfect ending!"
