Bridport fire engine delayed by 'inconsiderate parking'
The issues meant more than 40 birds died in an aviary blaze
A fire engine from Bridport has been delayed in getting to a call-out, by what they've called 'inconsiderate parking'.
The crew was called out at around 11.40pm on Friday night (20th May).
On their way to North Mills Road, where a bird aviary was alight, the truck got stuck while trying to pass parked cars.
Firefighters tried to find the owners and ask them to move, while others made their way to the incident on foot.
They also tried to reverse away to find a different route, but vehicles were queuing behind them, making the situation more difficult.
One car owner did move their vehicle for the engine to eventually get through, after a delay of more than 5 minutes.
The crew did manage to stop the fire spreading to a second aviary, but it's believed more than 40 birds died in the fire.
Bridport Fire Station's now reminding drivers that the Highway Code states vehicles must not be left in a place that prevents access for emergency services.
