Bridport care home due to get Covid-19 vaccine next week
Staff at Coneygar Lodge say they're all set
Residents and staff at a care home in Bridport could be getting the coronavirus vaccine in less than a week.
Coneygar Lodge have been told to expect vaccinations to start on December 14th.
James Cross is the Director at Coneygar Lodge.
He said:
"It's amazing what medical science has managed to do in the time that they've had. It's given us hope, light at the end of the tunnel.
"We're all set, ready here, we've got all our staff ready with their NHS numbers, we've got all the residents who are able to to consent.
"We know that they're working hard behind the scenes so we know that thee only reason we haven't heard anything yet is because they're waiting to hear.
"We've got absolutely all confidence that as soon they get information on dates and how it's going to roll out to us, then they'll be informing us."
Vaccines were given to the first people in the UK yesterday morning and further rollout is expected to take place over the next week.
James says his staff are looking forward to it:
"None of us believed it would come this early. It's been such a draining, tough year. We've got such a brilliant team here. The effort they've put in, the hours, have just been phenomenal.
"The thought that this vaccine is almost upon is is just brilliant news."
