If you are off to the beach this weekend, make sure it's one with a lifeguard.

The warning comes from the RNLI after an incident in the sea at Weymouth last Sunday.

Two young brothers got into difficulty while swimming near the Pier.

The young boy was being held up by his brother who was struggling to keep his head above water.

The incident was spotted by a lifeguard who went to their aid in a rescue boat and got them safely back to shore.

Alice Higgins, RNLI Lifeguard Lead Supervisor said;

"Both brothers were returned to shore where important safety advice around the dangers of secondary drowning were given. No further first aid was required.

"With the warm weather set to continue we'd strongly encourage people to head to a lifeguarded beach where our teams can ensure their safety.

"Always swim between the red and yellow flags which is the area marked out as the safest for swimming and speak to one of the lifeguards if you have any concerns, we're happy to help."
