A three-year-old boy has been taken to hospital after being hit by a car outside a school in Poole.

Police said they were called to a collision involving a Toyota RAV4 and a child in Talbot Drive outside Talbot Primary School at 8.23am on Tuesday.

The boy was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The road was closed while emergency services dealt with the incident.

PC Kier Dagnall from the roads policing team at Dorset Police, said: "I am carrying out an investigation into the circumstances of this incident and am keen to hear from any witnesses who have not yet spoken to police.

"I am also appealing to anyone who was travelling in the area with a dashcam fitted to their vehicle to please check the footage for anything of relevance to assist my enquiries."
