Bournemouth pet owners offered free neutering, flea and worm treatments

Pet owners on low incomes in Bournemouth are being given support to get animals neutered, microchipped and given flea and worm treatments.
The RSPCA's holding an Animal Action Day at Howe Croft Community Centre on Turnbull Lane on Monday afternoon (midday until 5.30pm, 29th April).
The charity's volunteers will be providing microchipping and flea and worm care for free on the day.
They'll also be giving out vouchers for a free neutering procedure with their local vet.
RSPCA inspector Graham Hammond said:
“This is a great initiative by the volunteers from the branches. Times are tough for so many people at the moment with the cost of living. Unfortunately, we’re seeing the impact and our Animal Kindness Index found that a growing number of people are finding keeping pets more expensive, and worried about the costs of feeding their animals.
"We hope lots of people will take up this offer of much-needed help for their pets at a time they may need it most.”
Anyone going along is asked to take along proof that they're in receipt of benefits, or on low incomes.
People are asked to bring along their pets, but need to ensure dogs are kept under close control on a short lead and any cats are transported in a secure carrier.
