Construction of a new state-of-the-art learning facility at Bournemouth and Poole College is officially underway.

The College is only one of sixteen sites across the nation to receive funding which will go towards transforming the Bournemouth campus into a “world-class learning environment”.

As of 2026, a huge four-storey building will be home to large parts of the curriculum including care, beauty and hospitality.

The new facility will have a modern teaching environment for courses in media, digital, business, travel, hair, beauty, hospitality, catering and sport.

College Principal, Phil Sayles told us: “We will have an amazing student training restaurant which will train the next generation of Michelin Star chefs as well as hair and beauty salons.

The four-storey building will be a “gamechanger” for the college until 2100 and offers a beacon of hope for its growing number of pupils.

“There are opportunities for people to come back to college to change their careers. It's all about giving people the skills they need so they can move forward with their lives and ultimately be happier and more prosperous.

“I really believe we need to do is to give everyone at a local area the chance to have slightly possibly can and that is fuelled by getting the right skills for you to get into a better job and the college is all about fuelling that growth. of individuals”

The Department for Education’s multimillion pound investment will also be used to upgrade the college’s dated buildings and refurbish the historic landmark Clock Tower Building.

The work will futureproof the buildings on our Bournemouth Campus until the end of the century, representing a huge vote of confidence in Bournemouth.

Cheryl Parsons, Regional Director at Kier Construction Southern, said: “We are excited to begin creating this high spec campus that will provide modern facilities for students and the local community.

"We are working closely with Bournemouth and Poole College to deliver a first-class teaching space in the heart of town that will enrich the learning experience of students for generations to come."
