Neighbourhood Police Officers in Dorchester say they'll be stepping up their patrols of the fields at Thomas Hardye School.

It's after empty alcohol bottles and cans were left scattered over the sports pitches.

They had to be cleared up by sports clubs before they could train.

A spokesperson for Dorchester Police said:

"Police attended and the majority [of young people) ran off, however a few did remain and speak to an officer. They picked up the rubbish that was there and left the area as instructed.

"The area was patrolled later by other Neighbourhood Officers and again the youths moved away from the area.

"Dorchester Neighbourhood officers will continue to patrol and move persons who are drinking alcohol from the school grounds."
