Thieves try to steal watch from elderly man's wrist in Bournemouth

The offenders ran away when the victim cried out for help

A man in his 70s has been targeted in an attempted robbery in Bournemouth, with police asking witnesses to contact them.

The victim was walking in Grove Road at around 3.20pm on the Thursday before last (29th August).

Two men tried to prise a watch from his wrist.

They left the scene when the victim cried out for help - running across the St Peter's roundabout and down St Peter's Road.

The men involved are described as:

  • Five feet eleven inches tall
  • North African appearance
  • One of them was wearing a white beanie hat with LV written on it
  • He also had no teeth

PC Zachary Dredge, of Bournemouth police, said:

“We are carrying out enquiries into this incident and I am keen to hear from any witnesses or anyone with information regarding the offenders.

“I would also urge residents or motorists who were in the vicinity to please review any home CCTV, doorbell camera or dashcam footage around the relevant timeframe to see if they have captured anything that might assist our investigation.”
