Arrest after reported rape in Bournemouth
A 24-year-old man from Bournemouth has been arrested on suspicion of rape
Detectives investigating a reported rape in Bournemouth have made an arrest.
Dorset Police received a report at 9.18pm on Wednesday 5 November 2025 that a man had raped a woman aged in her 30s in a wooded area in the Maxwell Road area.
The woman had previously met up with a person she knew in Charminster when she was approached by an unknown man.
Following a brief interaction, the victim and the unknown man walked to Maxwell Road together where the reported incident occurred.
An investigation was launched and following enquiries, a 24-year-old man from Bournemouth has been arrested on suspicion of rape.
He remains in police custody.
Detective Inspector Mark Jenkins, of the Major Crime Investigation Team, said: “Specialist officers are providing support to the victim and we are keeping her updated throughout our enquiries.
“We have now made an arrest and continue to investigate what happened. I would like to appeal to anyone who may have information, or who may have captured relevant CCTV footage from the area, to please get in touch.
“We understand that reports of this nature will undoubtedly cause concern for the wider community, but we would like to remind you that local officers are carrying out patrols in the area and can be approached by anyone who has concerns or would like to pass on information.”
